According to the World Health Organization, lower back pain affected 619 million people worldwide in 2020 alone, and statistics show that the number of people struggling with lower back pain continues to increase each year. Lower back pain, also known as lumbar pain, is back pain that starts below the rib cage. How to beat it?

Many people experience leg pain in addition to lower back pain. Such pain is usually manifested by burning sensations, tingling, soreness, and limited mobility. Possible causes include injuries, a herniated lumbar disc, sciatica, or other medical conditions. 

Lower back pain when walking and running

Some people experience lower back pain when walking and running. In fact, surveys have shown that up to 20% of runners suffer from lower back pain. Common causes of lower back pain when walking or running include muscle strains, muscle pulls and hyperlordosis. 

How to eliminate back pain after running? Warm up sufficiently before your run, avoid overtraining and don't underestimate hydration. 

What causes lower back pain in pregnancy?

 Common pregnancy-related back pain are caused by sciatic nerve irritation.

Pregnant women are most often afflicted by back pain that shoots through the buttocks, down the back of the thigh to the knee. This pain is caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve in the pelvic area. 

Is it possible to relieve the pain? Yes. Sleeping on your side, incorporating physical activity into your daily routine and good posture can help. However, if you experience both lower back and abdominal pains during pregnancy, you should seek medical help.

Is it possible to prevent lower back pain?

Unfortunately, in certain cases, lower back pain cannot be prevented. These are mainly diseases or structural problems of the spine. However, it is possible to avoid injuries that cause back pain. How? Maintain a healthy weight, strengthen your abdominal muscles, and lift heavy objects in the right way.
