Dosage:

When is ORALPÄDON® by ELOTRANS® used?
If the volume of stool is increased by additional fluid, medicine speaks of diarrhoea. The number of bowel movements also increases. If diarrhoea persists in infants and young children, there is a risk of dehydration (loss of fluid). This is because they have three to four times higher fluid turnover compared to adults. The higher mineral and fluid losses must be compensated for - for example by taking ORALPÄDON® 240 Apple/Banana, Strawberry or Neutral.
How does ORALPÄDON® work?
ORAL PAEDOPHILA® is used to treat water and electrolyte deficiencies during diarrhoea, including in infants and young children. Diarrhoea is accompanied by a loss of fluid from the body, which can be dangerous, especially in children. To compensate for the lack of fluids, so-called electrolyte solutions are suitable for babies and children. ORALPÄDON® is used to prepare an oral solution and ensures a stable electrolyte and water balance in the body.
The drinking solution from ORALPÄDON® contains an electrolyte concentration specially tailored to the needs of the child. In addition to sodium and potassium, the electrolyte solution for babies and toddlers also contains glucose (simple sugars) to support the absorption of electrolytes from the intestine.
How is ORALPÄDON® taken?
For infants and young children, the correct dose is one to one and a half times the daily amount of drinking. That's about three to five sachets of ORALPÄDON® in a 24-hour period. For older children, it is recommended to take one sachet of drinking powder dissolved in water after each bowel movement.
Since it can be difficult to keep sick children hydrated, the electrolyte solution is available in different flavours: In addition to ORALPÄDON® 240 Neutral, you also have the choice between ORALPÄDON® 240 Strawberry or ORALPÄDON® 240 Apple/Banana. In this way, you may make it even easier for your child to drink fluids in case of diarrhea.
The electrolyte solution is also suitable for adults: they can mix and take one or two sachets of ORALPÄDON® after each bowel movement. Alternatively, adults can also use ELOTRANS® Powder for diarrhoea.
