Nappy-Changing Tips & Tricks from Mitosyl Parents

As we are always exchanging valuable tips with our Mitosyl parents here at Mitosyl HQ, we want to share their amazing nappy-changing tips and tricks for happy bums and happy babies. Read on for tried-and-tested advice on the prevention and treatment of nappy rash in new-borns.

Tip 1: Happy-nappy routine

If your baby doesn't enjoy the nappy-changing experience or wiggles around too much when you’re applying our Protective Ointment, why not make the nappy routine a little more fun? Try hanging a mobile over your changing area to distract your little one as you soothe and protect. You could also hang pictures or mirrors for your baby to focus on, as high-contrast patterns and bright colours are easiest for new-borns to see - and what baby doesn't get excited by a mirror?!

Tip 2: Nappy-free time

Every time you get the chance, lay your baby on a towel or changing mat with no nappy - going nappy free allows fresh air to get to their bottoms, minimising the chance of nappy rash making an appearance.

Tip 3: The perfect fit

When you’re ready to put on a fresh nappy, our next nappy-changing tip is to make sure it fits snugly - not too tight and not too loose – to allow air to circulate. This will further reduce the chances of moisture building up, meaning a lower likelihood of nappy rash!

Tip 4: Protect that delicate skin

When your baby is suffering with nappy rash, our main piece of nappy advice is to use products that will soothe, not irritate, their skin. For cleaning your baby’s bottom, avoid using harsh baby wipes containing heavy fragrance and alcohol which are likely to further irritate delicate skin. Instead, look for a more natural formula, like our Mitosyl Naturel baby wipes, which contain aloe vera gel to help calm nappy rash.

Tip 5: Don’t get caught napping when it comes to nappy rash

When your baby has a daytime nap, it can be the perfect time to put your feet up and have a well-deserved rest. But, don’t forget to change your new-born’s nappy before they fall asleep. Long periods of time without changing the nappy can lead to nappy rash, so make sure to change your little one’s nappy regularly and use our Mitosyl Protective Ointment to help care for their delicate skin.
