The Common Cold and Nappy Rash
Your baby is having a tough enough time as it is when struggling with a cold - and it's safe to say the struggle is real for parents too!

How weaning can trigger nappy rash
Babies and young children get colds quite often as their immune system is still developing. Although it can be worrying, it's not usually too serious and tends to pass within a couple of weeks. Along with a runny nose, babies are more likely to have diarrhoea or looser stools, which of course ups the number of necessary nappy changes! Keeping on top of the issue by changing your baby’s nappies frequently and using our Protective Ointment to protect their skin is the best way to ease a little off your baby's distress.

When to seek medical
advice
Most colds in infants get better without treatment, but you should seek medical advice if:
- Your baby is under three months old and has a temperature of 38°C (100.4F) or above. Or, if they are between three and six months old and have a temperature of 39ºC (102.2F) or above.
- They're finding it difficult to breathe – seek medical help immediately from your GP surgery or local hospital.
- They seem to have severe earache (babies with earache often rub their ears and seem irritable).
- If your child has a sore throat for more than four days, a high temperature and is generally unwell, see a GP.
